Containers and Hanging Baskets

Large hits of colour that give an instant impression are as simple as some basic planting using the right compost mix coupled with a regular dose of care and attention.

Throughout late Spring and summer Jones Garden Centre keep a wide stock of fresh container and basket plants as well as bedding plants to give your pots, containers and hanging baskets that colour boost they need at the turn of the season. Summer colour can be replaced with winter colour with the addition of solanum, heathers and cyclamen

Containers and hanging baskets are simple to plant up and provide an abundance of colour which can be easily relocated or changed with relatively little work. They are a great way to start your journey to green fingers with the confidence gained from potting up to the realisation of cascades of colour turning a complete novice into a gardener with a creation to be proud of , helping them move up the ranks and try other more specialised garden tasks.

I have a climbing hydrangea but I am very disappointed that it has literally hardly grown in almost a year. It has buds on it but it hasn’t attached to the wall or started to spread. Do you have any suggestions?

    • Hi Angela,

Thank you for getting in touch with us, however without further details is will be difficult to ascertain what the problem is. If you could send on some details on the location of the plant and soil type or even pop in to us with a photo of the plant in position we would hope we can help.

      Kind Regards,

  • Paul

Hi, i visit Jones every so often. Im looking for plants that are suitable for hanging baskets. Preferably ones that like shade, as they are for the front of my house which faces north. I want something which will flower for a long time so i can get the most out of it. If you could suggest some plants that would be great.

    • Hi Paul,

Thanks for getting in touch, we would recommend for Spring time Primroses, Bellis, Pansies or Viola. For going forward into Summer we would recommend trailing Begonia. I hope this is of help to you but if you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us or pop in and see what we have to offer and speak to myself or any of our horticulturists.

      Kind Regards,

      • Paul

I cant stand Violas and pansies haha, i prefer something sort of droopy and interesting, just like that Begonia, wow. Will they last long though??

        • Not to worry pansies are not everyones cup of tea but they will be hardy and last through the colder winter and spring months which is why they are popular and recommended at this time of year. It is a bit early for the Begonias but if well looked after they can see you through to early October.
